The Challenge & Solution
A mature oak dominated the back of the property, but the compacted, root-bound ground beneath it had defeated every planting the owners tried. We built a proper shade bed — amending the soil without disturbing the root flare, selecting hydrangea and shade-tolerant roses suited to the light, and finishing with a deep hardwood mulch ring that protects the tree and holds moisture through summer.
"We'd killed everything we ever planted under that oak. Summit Ridge explained exactly why, fixed the soil, and picked plants that actually want to live there. Two seasons in, it's thriving."
